Solkeys participates in the EUPVSEC 2025 in Bilbao

Solkeys took part in the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC 2025), held in Bilbao from 22 to 26 September, contributing to three different activities that reflect the company’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation in the solar sector.

We co-chaired the session “PV Recycling and Material Demand”, which gathered a large audience and featured cutting-edge research on high-efficiency material separation processes, circular recovery routes for silicon and polymers, and the future availability of critical raw materials for next-generation photovoltaic applications, among others.

Solkeys also presented a poster contribution within the ETIP-PV Sustainable, Reliable and Social Photovoltaics working group, entitled “Enabling Innovation Through ESG: A Roadmap for the European PV.” The work explored how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices can become true enablers of innovation and competitiveness in the PV industry. Key discussion points included design-for-recycling approaches that preserve reliability, strategies to improve social acceptance of projects, and opportunities for second-life PV modules.

In addition, Solkeys presented results from the FLORA project, developed in collaboration with Gonvarri Industries and Gonvarri AgroTech, introducing PASSIFLORA — a new modelling tool for agrivoltaic greenhouses. Based on the open-source PASE framework and pvlib routines, PASSIFLORA allows fast and transparent estimation of how PV systems affect light availability for crops, supporting sustainable agri-PV design and regulatory compliance.

The conference once again proved to be a key global meeting point for the solar community, with lively discussions on topics such as new degradation modes, PV module reliability, integration of PV in new spaces (agrivoltaics, floating PV, BIPV), manufacturing challenges, digitalization, O&M, sustainability and circularity. EU PVSEC offered an exceptional environment for knowledge exchange and networking across research, industry, and policy — reinforcing Solkeys’ mission to contribute to a sustainable, high-quality photovoltaic sector.

The participation of Solkeys in the “EU PVSEC” held in Bilbao, from September 22 to 26, 2025, has been co-financed by the Gijón City Council through the Market Expansion 2025 program.
